Without seeing this job it is impossible to estimate what the cost might be. In my opinion this is not the type of work that you would hire a handyman to do. Get a couple of estimates from contractors willing to take on smaller jobs. With the construction industry in the middle of a down cycle it should not be difficult to find one willing to do the work.
