Paint cabinets

Hello Jeff Leslie,

Thank you for your question! You asked for an opinion of cost of a job. Here was your question: "Can you help me figure how long it would take to paint over oak cabinets with a pickled finish the person has about 12 doors above and 10 under"

Good question. This is the type of job that could take 4 hours or 16 hours depending on how much care you will be taking. If this is a high quality kitchen and the homeowner is looking for a top notch paint job, count on it taking a significant amount of time. On the other hand, if this will be done like they do it on TV - roll it on real quick - you'll be done in 4 hours all the while hoping that the homeowners aren't looking too closely at the results.

You'll have to consider how much prep work will need to be done. Presanding the existing cabinets will improve the final job. I've found it best to remove all of the doors and paint them in an enclosed room or garage which allows you to spray them. Several sprayed coats with a light sanding in between will give the best results.

Hope this is of some help,

Thanks for asking,
