they can find someone cheaper isn't too surprising - what will be a surprise
is if they are happy with the results they get.
There is probably no problem with the prices you are asking - more likely it
is a problem stemming from the source for your business. Market yourself
purely word of mouth and referral marketing. Clients that are referred to
you will pay your asking rate.
Thanks for the question. Hope I've been of some help.

contact_comments: Hi there,, I am a very small time handyman and have just
started trying to go full-time at it. I am working little by little of
working on my pricing as things are starting to grow a little and I want to
stay consistent with my fees. I live in MA. very close to Boston. I just
gave a bid to someone for pulling out part of a broken ceiling, hanging new
sheetrock and painting. The section total was about 5'X8' Though there was
some cutting and work to get it in there. Hallway area in a stairwell with a
corner and landing. I figured it was worth about $300.00. They went with
someone else because they said it was cheaper. Are my numbers just way off?
I have a few people I'm working for and I basically have an hourly in my
head and charge them fairly for my time when I'm done. I also work fast. I
seem to be having a problem with bids. Any suggestions? Or is it just a
matter of experience? Thanks for any time or answers you could provide.,Have
a good day.,Chris
